Bay rugby brutes go down to log leaders

Richards Bay 1 went down at home to Jaguars, but the second team maintained their unbeaten season.

RICHARDS Bay 1 found themselves unlucky when going down 32-26 to unbeaten Fidelity Security First Division South log leaders Jaguars at home on Saturday.

The home side fielded a second string side due to injuries and unavailable players.

Both sides put on a top display for the jam-packed crowd, which resulted in sensational rugby being played.

The teams matched each other in most aspects of the game, with the visitors dominating the scrums.

The home team’s points came two converted tries, three penalties, and a drop goal.

Winger Vitalis Simelane and fullback Jimmy Enslin each crossed the chalk for the home side, with flyhalf JP Rossouw kicking both conversions.

Rossouw added another nine points from three penalties, with Enslin slotting a drop goal.

Richards Bay 2 carried on with their unbeaten run, when they beat Jaguars 25-12 in the first game of the day.

Richards Bay 1 and 2 will host Westville Old Boys in their next clash on Saturday 11 July.

Kick-offs will be at 1:30pm and 3pm.
