Speedy times at Tronox
Bongani Mdletshe claimed the 42.2km title in a speedy time of 2:43:45 at the Tronox Marathon and Half Marathon.
UMHLATHUZE Athletics Club walkers Lindokuhle Ntombela, Yvonne Irmscher and Andile Ximba claimed the top three spots in the 21.1km walk at the Tronox Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday at Addison Park.
Athletes were greeted with cool, breezy weather conditions, which made the running and walking pleasant.
The popular annual race was hosted by uMhlathuze Athletics Club and saw Bongani Mdletshe claim the 42.2km title in a speedy time of 2:43:45.
Mkosinathi Zungu crossed the line in 1:14:58 to win the 21.1km race, with Nduduzo Mzimela winning the 10km in a blistering time of 36 minutes.
With the popular Comrades Marathon just around the corner, athletes were satisfied with their performances and fitness levels on the day.

42.2km run – 1 Bongani Mdletshe 2:43:45, 2 Vusi Mbatha 2:44:34 and 3 Ntando Xulu 2:50:57.
21.1km run – 1 Mkosinathi Zungu 1:14:58, 2 Sifiso Mdletshe 1:17:31 and 3 Dumisani Dlamini 1:19:12.
21.1km walk – 1 Lindokuhle Ntombela 1:58:36, 2 Yvonne Irmscher 2:13:21 and 3 Andile Ximba 2:27:44.
10km run – 1 Nduduzo Mzimela 36:00, 2 Mzisi Khumalo 38:00 and Sicelo Ndamande 40:08.
