Punching their way to fitness

New boxing club formed in Meerensee

FORMER SA boxing champion Freddy ‘Rafferty’ Horn has opened a new club in the basement at the LAC Centre in Meerensee.

Not only is he hoping to groom young men and women to enter the boxing ring and become champions, Freddy also welcomes any person who simply wants to become fit through his rigorous training regime.

‘Any person from high school age can come along. We train Mondays to Thursdays from 5.30pm to 7pm.

‘Thanks to Schoonhoven Enterprises for providing the venue and Neville Loosemore of Security Fencing and Alarms for protecting the ring and equipment, we can give everyone the opportunity to train with us.’

Sessions include fitness exercises, punch bag work, skipping, shadow boxing and a ring workout for those who want the contact side of the sport.

After a career of more than two decades, Freddy continues to put back into the sport he enjoys and can be contacted on 082 6631712 for more information.
