They have golden walking shoes
Umhlathuze athletes bag silverware at the KZNA Senior and Masters track and field Championships.
UMHLATHUZE Athletics Club walkers Yvonne Irmscher and Lindokuhle Ntombela performed out of their shoes at the 2015 KZNA Senior and Masters track and field championships held at Kings Park in Durban last weekend.
Friday’s weather conditions aided the athletes, which resulted in fast times being recorded, but unfortunately Saturday produced hot and windy conditions which tested the competitors.
Lindokuhle walked his way to gold in the 20km senior race with a time of 01:38:36.
Yvonne marched to silver in the masters 5km event with a time of 29:37 and silver in the masters 10km race with a time of 60:22.
When the latest KZN records came out, Yvonne holds the records in the women’s 50 plus category for the 5km (28:29:44), 10km (57:41:00), 30km (3:07:47) and 50km (5:26:28:00).
