Reeling in the rewards

Local anglers rewarded at Zululand Deep Sea Angling Association prize-giving.

THE Zululand Deep Sea Angling Association held its annual dinner dance prize-giving records evening on 10 October at the Blue Marlin Guest House in Meerensee.

Anglers were rewarded for their hard work throughout the season.

Zululand had a big year, with the local anglers making the province proud with their achievements.

Protea and Mapelane Ski Boat Club angler Phillip Marx received awards for being selected by SADSAA to represent the SADSAA Masters Heavy Tackle team at the 2012 Tri-Facet Nationals, as well as representing the Protea team at the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament.

Richards Bay Ski Boat Club angler Dale Leenstra received numerous Zululand awards, Zululand Record Certificates, SADSAA Record Certificates, SADSAA merit awards and All Africa Record Certificates.

Father and daughter duo André and Lelani Labuschagne of the Richards Bay Ski Boat Club both achieved Zululand colours for the first time when they were selected to represent Zululand at the 2014 Bottom Fish Nationals in Durban.

Leslie Hartley of Mapelane Ski Boat Club received awards for representing the Zululand during the 2012 Tri-Facet Nationals Heavy Tackle and the 2014 Billfish Inter-Provincial held at Richards Bay.

David Cowie of Meerensee Boat Club received Zululand Colours for the first time when he was selected to represent the district at the 2014 Inter-Provincial Game Fish held at Shelly Beach.

Lucas Landman of the Richards Bay Ski Boat Club received an award for representing the Zululand at the 2012 Tri-Facet Nationals held at Sodwana.
