Gymnasts scoop medals

SIX Richards Bay Gymnastics Club gymnasts represented KZN at the Central Zone Challenge in Pinetown on 29 and 30 August, and managed to scoop a range of medals after stand-out performances.

They competed against gymnasts from Northern Gauteng, North West, Northern Free State and Free State.

Matthew Röttcher and Hannah Vermaak took home gold overall, Lauren Richardson and Abigail Röttcher snatched silver, with Jason Röttcher and Luke Vermaak bagging bronze.

The girls competed in vault, bar, beam and floor, and the boys in vault, bar, parallel bar and floor.

‘We are very proud of these talented gymnasts, as gymnastics is a sport that requires hard work, dedication and discipline which they have shown,’ said coach Tania Alger.
