Silverware for Grundlingh

Bay karateka brings home two gold medals from the USA Open Martial Arts World Championships in Orlando Florida.

ZULULAND’S karate kid Angelique Grundlingh added some more silverware to her cabinet after claiming two gold medals, one silver and one bronze representing team South Africa at the USA Open Martial Arts World Championships in Orlando Florida.

The human weapon took gold for traditional weapons and points sparring, silver for creative weapons, bronze for clash sparring and ended fifth for forms and for continuous sparring.

The tournament on 11 and 12 July, provided Angelique will loads of experience and exposed her to the world’s best.

‘I would like to thank all my sponsors for their generosity and the support of my family,’ said Angelique.

‘A special thank you to Sabum Lisa Dobson and coach Johann Smit for preparing me for this tournament.’
