Zululand cyclist selected for SA Commonwealth squad

City cycle ace Heidi Dalton will join the South African team to compete in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

ZULULAND cycling star Heidi Dalton has been included in the 155-strong South African team to compete in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, next month.

Dalton, who has been in top form in her most recent international outings, is one of 15 cyclists selected for the squad representing 15 sport codes.

At the announcement of the team yesterday (Wednesday), SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) President, Gideon Sam, said South Africa aimed to claim at least 43 medals, which should see it finishing among the top five countries at the Games taking place between 23 July and 3 August.

With the men’s and women’s hockey teams currently still doing battle at the World Cup in the Netherlands, the names for this code will be named on completion of that event.
