Eat my dust

This is Calvin Hume's third consecutive victory in the senior division of the junior series.

LOCAL motorcross racer Calvin Hume left his fellow competitors in his dust when he claimed podium position at the third round of the KZN X-Country series on Sunday at Roseleigh Farm in the Illovo area.

This is Hume’s third consecutive victory in the senior division of the junior series, which puts him in the running for a possible championship victory for the year.

The Roseleigh Rumble, hosted by the South Coast Motor Sports Club, was honoured to host the first Hare Scramble event in South Africa.

This event saw a large entry of riders take to a fast and challenging track, which had cane breaks, forest paths and mud crossings.

The junior riders had to cover the 26km track in two hours, with the seniors completing a 36km track in three hours.

‘This type of track suited Calvin, who was riding for the Fast Powersports team,’ said manager and father Brett Hume.

‘Calvin will compete at the Junior WFO Enduro on 29 June at Umzumbe (South Coast), where he will be seeking a podium finish.

He already has a win and second place finish in this competition, and will be looking for maximum points to aid his goal of a championship victory’.
