Evan swims hard for his dream

Evan Weyermüller (16) is this month's SuperSport Let's Play Sports Star of the Month.

SUPERSPORT, in conjunction with the Zululand Observer, Let’s Play Sports Star of the Month of May winner has been announced.

Evan Weyermüller a 16-year-old sportsman from Richards Bay has been given the coveted title for his swimming prowess..

Evan is a pupil at Richards Bay Christian Academy and is an avid sportsman whose main interest is swimming.

In 2012, he received his KZN Schools colours for swimming and in 2013 he received the Richards Bay Christian School Male Swimmer of the Year and Sportsman of the Year awards.

In April, Evan represented South Africa in Uganda at the African Swimming Confederation Zone 3 and 4 Invitational Swimming Championships, walking away with two gold medals after winning the Boys U15 and U16, 100 metres and 200 metres breaststroke.

He also represented South Africa at the South African Youth Nationals and the South African National Championship as well as attending the Commonwealth trials.

When asked what his motto for life and sports practice is, he replied, ‘Follow your dream and work hard because it pays off.’

Wendy Weyermüller, Evans’ mother, said, ‘Ever since primary school, Evan has taken to swimming like a fish to water.’

SuperSport Let’s Play and Zululand Observer are looking for children aged from seven to 18-years-old who excel in school sports, in KwaZulu-Natal, nationally or internationally.

The competition can be entered by nominating yourself or be nominated by a friend, teacher or coach at your school.

Every month, one lucky player will be chosen as the SuperSport Let’s Play Star of the Month.

The monthly winner will receive a Let’s Play tog-bag and hamper filled with goodies as well as the opportunity to be in the Zululand Observer and on SuperSports Facebook and Twitter pages.

At the end of the year, one star will be chosen as the SuperSport Let’s Play Star of the Year 2014. With some fabulous prizes to be won, and the chance of getting to be on TV, this opportunity should not be missed.
