All set for the mighty challenge

The squash and bowling lads will take eachother on in a challenge at the Empangeni Country Club

THE challenge has been set and the gauntlet laid down.

The Empangeni bowls ‘Ballies’ are taking on the Empangeni squash lads in the prestigious 2014 Empangeni Squash/Bowls Challenge next Friday (9 May) at the Empangeni Country Club.

The action will start at 2:30pm on the squash courts before settling the matter out on the bowling greens.

With bragging rights up for grabs, sneaky tactics being employed and ‘wisdom’ with age being used, the competition promises to be a cracker.

‘The bowls boys challenged us squash lads, knowing that they play squash and none of us bowls, but considering we are naturally more talented than them, things could get hot on the green,’ said Paul Gouge.

The teams:

Bowls team – Dion Laity, Fuzzy van Aswegen, Richard Allan, Steve Oberholzer, Steve Corbett, Neville Getkate, Shawn Francis and Dennis Geach.

Squash team – Paul Gouge, Gavin Carey, Shawn Leslie, Walter Muhl, Mike Hunter, Tinus van Wyk, Shirley Carey and Warren Poustie.
