Hume makes competitors fume

Hume claimed podium position at the first round of the Junior Natal WFO Championships

LOCAL motor-cross enduro rider Calvin Hume literally left his fellow competitors fuming in the wake of his exhaust fumes after dominating and winning the first round of the Junior Natal WFO Enduro Championships during the weekend.

The talented rider, who has just enjoyed a win at the Natal Hare Scramble Championships, left competitors behind when he won the over-all rider for the day.

The youngster rides for the Fast Power Sports Team and manipulates his new 2014 Kawasaki KX 100 to his advantage to produce success time and time again.

The 20km track, which was set in the mountains at Seven Oaks, near Greytown (KZN), proved tricky and difficult for riders.

Hume lead the race from start to finish, completing the four laps in the two-and-a-half hour time barrier set for the race.

The track proved to be technical with very steep climbs, rocky terrain and river crossings.

The forest single track allowed for riders to open the throttle to make up for lost time.

Calvin will race at the second round of the Hare Scramble Championships on the South Coast at the end of March.
