Fast times at Bay race
Fast times were recorded at the Scribante trail run/walk in Richards Bay
KZN and uMhlathuze Athletics Club athletes Yvonne Irmscher (women’s walk), Lindokuhle Ntombela (men’s walk) and Nomcebo Mthethwa (women’s run) sped their way into first places at the recent 15km Scribante trail run/walk at the Bay Hall in Richards Bay.
A total of 22 walkers and 114 runners entered the event.
Patrick Nkosi won the men’s 15km run in a fast time of 49.44 minutes, which works out to a blistering 3.29 minutes a kilometre.
He was closely followed by Bernard Phalasane, who charged in second in a time of 51.40.
Nomcebo Mthethwa crossed the line to win the women’s 15km race in a time of 58.27, continuing her good form at the recent SA cross-country championships in Nelspruit.
Veteran walker Yvonne Irmscher cruised home in 01.33.01 to win the ladies 15km walk.
Young and talented KZN athlete Lindokuhle Ntombela won the men’s 15km walk in 01.36.22.
