THE MiWay Big Five Mountain Bike Challenge held their series prize giving at the Zululand Multi Sports Club on Saturday.
The top riders were honoured for their achievements throughout the series with Desiree Verwey and Tyronne White taking the 50km crowns.
In the 25km series, Tracy van Zyl and Joshua Nelson were the overall winners.
The top track of the MiWay Series was voted for by the riders and was awarded to RIS Hluhluwe Rhino organisors, Hluhluwe Privaatskool.
In thanking the sponsors for their support, series organiser Shane Webster said the 10km races for U11 and U13 age groups has proved to be successful and bodes well for MTB racing in Zululand.
The response from the young riders and their parents has been encouraging and it is definitely going to be carried forward into 2014.
In his closing remarks, he thanked track builders, local organisers, riders and their supporters for a very successful 2013 series.
Negotiations are underway with MiWay for the future sponsorship of the series, as their three-year contract has come to an end.
