After four fast action packed games with all players taking a crack at the nut and bat, the scoreboard read South Africa 3, KZN North 1

AFTER all the players took a crack at the nut and bat, the scoreboard read ‘South Africa 3 – KZN North 1’ on Friday evening at the Richards Bay Indoor Cricket Arena.

This after four SA indoor cricket sides made the trip to the Bay to take on the KZN North sides in a tournament that produced sensational cricket.

In the first game between SA U15 and KZN U18 it was the national team that won the game by 31 runs.

Hanco Janse van Rensburg top-scored for KZN with 20 runs, while team mate Robin Seiler worked the cherry with figures of 1/2 in 2 overs.

KZN managed 73 runs in their alotted 16 overs.

The visiting side reached 104 in their 16 overs thanks to Brandon de Kock who smashed 33 runs.

Henry Norris got figures of 3/-3 in 2 overs.

Meanwhile over in the ‘B’ net SA U11 took on KZN U13, and it was the younger team who won the game by a solid 110 runs.

KZN batted first and reached 32 runs in their 16 overs thanks mainly to 23 runs from Renaldo Smit, who also managed 1/5 in 2 overs with the cherry.

SA reached 142 runs thanks to 22 runs from Kyle van der Merwe.

But it was Waldo Noeta with 3/-2 who proved lethal for the SA side.

In the second game in the ‘A’ net SA U18 and KZN U21 the home side stole a 21-run victory to restore some pride for the local sides.

Mark Shorkend (21) and Preneshan Padiachie (2/4) were the top players for the home side who reached 100 runs in their 16 overs.

SA fell short when they made 79 runs.

René Gericke (2/5 in 2 overs) was SA’s top bowler.

In the second game in the ‘B’ net, SA U13 beat KZN U15 by 74 runs.

KZN batted first and reached 43 runs in their 16 overs thanks to Jason Marx who managed 12 runs with the bat.

Caleb Alexander (3/-1) was the top bowler.

SA reached 117 runs in their 16 overs thanks to 21 runs from Juan Wilson who also got 4/-10 with the ball.
