Rugby wrap up

Three local rhinos players have been selected to join the Sharks sevens training squad after stand out performances in Caslte Murray Cup competition

THANDA Zululand Rhinos were pleased with their efforts in the Castle Murray Cup even though they went down 39-18 to a strong Durban Collegians side in the Castle Murray Cup semi finals, where they gave a very good account of themselves.

Three of their players, namely Adu Wessles, Thulani Mdluli and Thokozani Mdluli have gained recognition for their efforts.

Wessels, who was named man of the match in the Rhinos 31-29 victory over Harlequins in the Castle Murray Cup quarter finals, was selected to play for the Duikers in the Central Union tournament.

He was also selected to play in the Sharks pre Currie Cup trial match. He did not make it here, but he was selected with the Mdluli twins for the training sessions with the Sharks sevens squad.

The Club will be saying farewell to Sam Goodwin who came to them from the United Kingdom and Zimbabwean Tinashe Matonga.

Both these gentlemen made considerable contributions to the club performances towards the end of the season.

The club annual dinner will be held in November. Details of this important event will be forthcoming in the near future.

Junior rugby players are reminded that their practices will be held every Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5pm to 6pm.
