BLOGGING THE VIEW: 9 last-minute Christmas shopping tips

If your Christmas shopping list still has some outstanding items, here's how to get it all wrapped up quickly!

IT’S Christmas Eve and, if you’re like me, despite all your best efforts, there is still Christmas shopping to be done. But do not despair! Here are some easy-to-follow tips that can help you get that last bow on the last present before the big day arrives.

1. Avoid clothing
It’s hard enough buying clothes for yourself, let alone for someone else. Don’t try to figure out sizes and styles last-minute as the chances of getting it wrong are quite pronounced. Rather leave clothing off the list for this shopping expedition.

2. Gift cards
It might seem like a bit of a cop out, but gift cards are really useful. You can make it a little more personal by placing the gift card in a mug or other generic but useful item.

3. Go with your first choice
Now is not the time for second guessing and indecision. If you find a gift that could work, buy it then and there. Time is not on your side and you’re likely to end up going with your first choice anyway.

4. Check the list
Write a list of who you need to buy for and stick to it. Don’t get distracted with the discounted curtains and home essentials – you’re here on a mission!

5. Consider re-gifting
We’ve all got those gifts that didn’t fit our lives or that we already have and couldn’t use. Dig in the cupboard, wrap it up and give it as a gift to someone else. Just make sure you don’t re-gift it to the person who gave it to you!

6. Baked goods
If you have any baking talent, then get out your favourite recipe and bake up some biscuits or muffins and package them in a basket or tin. This is a welcome gift for anyone with a sweet tooth.

7. Experiences
Some of the best gifts are experiences, rather than things. If you’re pressed for time, consider buying something like a spa day, tickets to an event, a trip in a helicopter or any other unique adventure.

8. Stick to your budget
Last-minute shopping stress can often cause you to blow the budget. Make sure you decide on your gifting budget before heading to the shops.

9. Limit the shop numbers
Don’t wander around the shopping centre aimlessly, rather decide on a selection of shops you will check and then go with your first choice.

Now that you’re armed with these last-minute shopping tips, stop wasting time reading blogs and go finish your Christmas shopping!
