I WOULD like to know how the uMhlathuze Municipality came to the decision to introduce water supply cuts during the early hours of 4am-9am for five days (from 27 to 31 July).

We believe these are harsh restrictions as many people are returning from or going to work during the 6am-8am time period.

This is impractical.

Another concern is water pipes bursting and losing more precious water.

I do not know how or why this decision was taken, but it is really a bad time.

Also washing for a whole week can be affected, as many people have maids doing the washing after 8am. An automatic washing machine can take much more than an hour to finish the cycle.

After five hours of no water, when the water comes back on, it will be discoloured and not suitable for drinking or washing – more water wastage.

We would like to suggest a time after 10am to 3pm and perhaps in the evening from 8pm to 1am.

This will give the public time to shower after work in the evening, cook and wash dishes.

We hope the municipality can find this suggestion viable and as the public, we would be most grateful.
