Appreciate our beach

IT was refreshing to note how festive and busy Alkantstrand beach was over the Easter weekend.

The beach, which has changed rapidly over recent years due to natural causes and lack of maintenance, is definitely note fully utilised.

The Easter weekend provided a change in scenery from the quietude of Alkantstrand’s normal days.

It was lovely to observe holiday-makers and locals bathing in the waves and soaking up the sun, further creating a festive and energising vibe for all.

But it is discouraging to note how many people either do not know of Alkantstrand beach or choose not to visit it.

It is safe for bathing, thanks to the excellent supervision of the professional lifeguards who keep a sharp eye out for any problems.

People travel many kilometres to enjoy this asset – let us locals use it to the full.
