SO, load shedding is upon us again – welcome to the Third World.

We’ll just have to accept it, deal with it and move on – so the powers- that-be say.

But at what cost? Here in uMhlathuze we have to deal with being off for four hours at a time, every day – four hours of downtime for already struggling businesses in this area to deal with.

Why not for only two hours daily, as in other cities and towns of SA?

Eskom orders, and so we must obey.

Talk about a dictatorship – and the government mistakenly thinks they run this country. Forget it, the power utility runs this country.

They dictate to any- and everyone of our citizens when and where they should do their work.

And Eskom was warned about this back in the 1990s, but they chose to ignore the warnings of those most experienced and qualified in the electricity providing field.

I understand that every SA citizen is entitled to the use of electricity, but why weren’t the power stations, wind farms, solar energy farms and other means of feeding the electricity grid built first, then this power shortage would never have happened.

Obviously the political leaders thought they knew better – supply electricity and get the votes.

To add insult to injury, the cost of the little electricity we can use is going to skyrocket. This is because with load shedding there is less electricity being used and paid for, so Eskom’s income drops.

Push up the price and the income for the big salaries these ‘brain surgeons’ earn, is still supplied.

I wonder if their homes are also affected by load shedding the same as the rest of us?
