One dead in N2 head-on collision near Mandeni

Traffic on the N2 between bridges 18 and 19 in the vicinity of Mandeni was again brought to a standstill early this (Wednesday) morning owing to an accident involving a truck and a light motor vehicle.

IPSS Medical Rescue responded to the collision, which occurred on the same stretch of road as Friday’s horrific accident in which eight people lost their lives.

The driver of the light motor vehicle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene, while the truck driver, who sustained minor injuries, was treated on scene before being transported to hospital by KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The collision, which occurred before sunrise, affected morning rush-hour traffic on the national route.
