WATCH: Richards Bay angler faces serious charge

Richards Bay fisherman nabbed for contravening the Marine Living Resources Act

An angler is awaiting a further court appearance after being charged for contravening the Marine Living Resources Act in Richards Bay.

Delaray Labuschagne (74) had allegedly exceeded the bag limit of fish after reportedly being found with
65 kob on his boat in Meerensee last Friday morning.

SAPS water police and DAFF (Department of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries) members made the arrest and confiscated the suspect’s boat.

According to DAFF, the charge sheet stipulates a fine of R500 for each fish over the bag limit.

Labuschagne has appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court and the matter was remanded to
6 November.
