KZN drug dismantling operation launched

15 illegal foreign nationals rounded up as 'Operation Khuculula' targeting drugs and illegal immigrants kicks off in KZN

Significant arrests of illegal foreigners and drug operators were made this morning (Monday) as KZN Premier Thami Ntuli’s ‘Operation Khuculula’ kicked off.

In preparation for a safe holiday season in Kwazulu-Natal, the initiative aims to dismantle illegal drug activities and apprehend foreign nationals and South African citizens involved in unlawful operations.

The operation kicked off at the notorious Albert Park and Maydon Wharf intersection in Durban, which has long been a hot spot for drug use and illegal activities in the province.

Speaking to the media during the operation, Premier Ntuli said this was an operation to clean Durban and the entire KZN province.

“We are here to find those who are illegally in the province and actively involved in drug dealing. Some are even sick and those who are co-operative are taken to shelters, while others are running away because they know they have been involved in criminal activities,” said Ntuli.

He added that this operation has been a success as in one of the buildings that was raided, 15 illegal foreign nationals were found.
