Load-shedding implemented for Empangeni residents

Empangeni faces rotational load-shedding due to substation overloading

Empangeni residents are set to experience rotational load-shedding amid ongoing electricity cable repairs.

This is owing to overloading at Empangeni’s main substation.

“Due to damaged cables and work still being performed, all customers are supplied from Empangeni main substation,” said the City of uMhlathuze.

The four-hour rotation will continue until repairs are complete.

“We are experiencing an overload situation and need to implement rotational load-shedding as follows: Group 1: Biyela Centre, President Swart, Weightman, Panorama, Hillview and the Prison area will be on from 11am to 3pm and off from 3.30pm to 7pm.

“Empangeni Central, Noordsig, Fairview, Nyala Park, portion of Union Street, OK Bazaars will be restored at 3.30pm until 7.30pm,” the city stated.
