Don’t miss Mtunzini’s zestful Art in the Shade

Art in the Shade Festival promises a fantastic line-up

Mtunzini’s annual Art in the Shade Festival promises a fantastic, even bigger, line-up for its 8th year running.

An Mtunzini Rotary Club project, the festival runs from Friday, 25 to Saturday, 27 October at various venues in the small coastal village.

Highlights include live Afrikaans music at the Tipsy Bush Baby; Mtunzini Country Club’s Gin and Jazz festival on Saturday; art workshops at Twiggs Coffee Shop, pet-themed activities at Pawsome pet store; life drawing classes at Zeepos; live music and poetry at Nook Bistro; and a large visual art exhibition to be held in Mtunzini Primary School’s hall.

The art of nature is celebrated by weekend mushroom foraging with top mycologist Jon Mac Gillivray; and bird walks will be led by Zululand’s top bird guides Junior Gabela and Hugh Chittenden.

In the build-up to the annual Art in the Shade Festival, 55 bins have been reimagined, as has uMlalazi Nature Reserve’s bridge.
Friday festivities run from 1pm ‘til late; Saturday 7am ’til late, and Sunday 7am to 12 noon.
