Zululander laces up for worthy cause

Tyron Golden to run a marathon for childhood cancer foundation

Turning pain into power is Zululander Tyron Golden, who will be lacing up for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon in a bid to raise funds for CHOC (Children’s Cancer Foundation).

After losing several family members, including his mother Henrietta, to cancer, Tyron has made it his mission to use his love for running to raise awareness for patients and their families.

In 2017, 20 years after his mother’s passing, he decided it was time to honour her memory by trying to raise funds for cancer-driven charities.

“I will be running this race in memory of my ‘four queens’ – mother Henrietta, aunts Bernie Bosch and Esther Jegels, and niece Tarin Holster,” he explained.

All the proceeds raised will go towards assisting with electricity, water, food, household goods like linen and towels, and transport for the children to and from hospital.

“I would appreciate any help Zululanders are willing to offer,” said Tyron.

Anyone wanting to donate or assist Tyron in raising funds can contact him 064 8535664.
