Avian alarm at Alkantstrand

A group of fleet-footed fishermen jumped into action on Sunday when an endangered marine bird got more than it bargained for after gulping down a foot-long shad.

Luke Chetty was among numerous anglers casting for garrick from the northern pier at Alkantstrand when the Cape gannet dived for its breakfast – which turned out to be Chetty’s live bait…
