MEC to visit cultural precinct in Nongoma

MEC to assess progress of the king's amphitheatre at Enyokeni Cultural Precinct in Nongoma

Public Works and Infrastructure MEC Martin Meyer will tomorrow (Thursday) embark on an oversight visit to assess the progress of the king’s amphitheatre at Enyokeni Cultural Precinct in Nongoma.

The amphitheatre belonging to King MisuZulu kaZwelithini is of great significance to cultural events, including the upcoming Reed Dance.

R98.6-million in taxpayer money has been spent on the project, with the KZN Arts and Culture Department as the client.

The project began in May 2023 and is expected to be completed by October this year.

Meyer states that this move further allows the provincial government to meet its mandate of cutting down expenditure.
