Sudden power cut saves convicted speedster from jail

Power failure cuts sentencing proceedings short at Ngwelezana Regional Court

A sudden electricity failure at Ngwelezana Regional Court temporarily saved a convicted speedster from going to jail on Thursday, with sentencing postponed to next month.

The court found Samukelo Khuzwayo (41) guilty of culpable homicide and drunken driving in June.

This after he caused an accident that resulted in the death of City of uMhlathuze traffic officer Nduduzo Ncanana, damaging a speed trap camera in the process. The accident occurred on 19 June 2021 on the N2 near Empangeni.
