September fuel dip expected

Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announces fuel price adjustment

Following a slight decrease last month, motorists are in for more reprieve at the fuel pumps as of this week.

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) has announced a 92 cents per litre drop in the price of petrol and a 79 cents per litre decrease for diesel. Illuminating paraffin is set to come down by R1.03 per litre.
The adjusted fuel prices will come into effect on Wednesday, 4 September.

“The average international petroleum product prices decreased during the period under review in line with lower crude oil prices.

“This led to lower contributions to the basic fuel prices of petrol by 85.59 cents per litre and 78.40 cents per litre, diesel by 93.55 c/l and 67.63 cents per litre and illuminating paraffin by 91.86 cents per litre, respectively,” said the DMRE in a statement.
