What’s on in the weekend events diary

Weekend events in Empangeni and Richards Bay

With several community events penned in to the entertainment diary, there certainly is something for everyone this weekend.

As we step into spring, sign up for the Sanca/Zululand Observer Walk Away from Drugs annual fundraiser on Saturday morning, and enjoy the community vibe at the Richards Bay Festival that goes on into the evening.

This annual fund- and awareness-raiser helps deliver Sanca Zululand’s anti-drug message to mainly children.

Festivities start with registration at 7am at Zululand Yacht Club.

Thereafter there will be a fun warm-up before the main event kicks off at 9am – a 5km walk from the yacht club to the Bay Hall and back.

Richards Bay Festival

Fire dancing is on this year’s entertainment line-up, among many others, for the Richards Bay Festival

This community-driven festival was a huge success last year and is back by popular demand.

Held at the Richards Bay Rugby Club on Saturday, gates will open at 10am until 9pm.

Many stallholders of all variety will be there, including food, and there is an entertainment line-up to knock your socks off.
