Richards Bay family loses everything in house fire; community members, NPOs and churches rally to assist

A VELDENVLEI family is heartbroken after losing their home and possessions in a house fire last night (Thursday).

uMhlathuze Fire & Rescue was alerted to the blaze at 6pm, arriving on scene shortly afterwards.

By this time, the roof had already collapsed, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Councillor Henning de Wet, who is Richards Bay Round Table treasurer, is rallying the community to help the family.

Family spokesperson, Pastor Roland Forbay, who is also heading up assistance for the family, said the following items are urgently needed: 6mm Surfex cable 2 core plus earth x 40mt, packet of large cable ties, 6x 16mm ferrules. Ps Forbay can be contacted on 072 2580573.
