D-DAY is inching nearer… Dolosfees is coming soon and Zululanders have a lot to look forward to.

Among other amazing artists, Die Piesangskille and Afrikaans music legend Bok van Blerk will be performing on Friday, 27 September and Saturday, 28 September respectively.

Beyond the live music performances, there will be a load of fun events and activities taking place throughout the festival weekend.

Bok van

Bok van Blerk is well-known for his songs Lemoene, Koue Voete Warm Liefde, Sing Afrikaner Sing, a famous collaborative effort with Ricus Nel and others on Hardekole – and many more hits. His body of work merges ‘historical and cultural themes within contemporary Afrikaans sounds’, encompassing themes of  love, personal trials and societal issues. Bok van Blerk has a charisma and presence that, together with his ‘sincere and passionate renditions’, has won over many audiences, and his show is sure to be a highlight for Richards Bay this year.

Die Piesangskille is an up-and-coming band made up of 20-somethings Daniël Francios Marais & Johan Balt, friends who met through their studies in Potchefstroom. The duo joke that their genre of music is ‘Die Piesangskille’ because they can’t quite pin it down. This unique sound is evident in their songs Inge 2, Lyntjie, Haar Naam Was Somer, and Mal Maandagaande.

Die Piesangskille

Johan says he was initially worried about singing in front of an audience, but that he enjoys it now. Daniël says that he ‘love[s] the idea that [he] can tell a story’ with his music, especially on a personal level. The duo’s motto is: ‘Do not take yourself too seriously and forget about what people think of you’.
Don’t miss seeing these incredible artists live at the Dolosfees.
