‘Winners’ public holiday fake news

YOU may have already started planning for your celebratory braai after seeing a public holiday announcement doing the rounds on social media.

But don’t get ahead of yourself, as the official SA Government social media platforms have been quick to denounce the ‘announcement’ as fake news.

This after a social media page that calls itself South African Government Official Parody posted earlier today that the presidency and Parliament of SA had jointly declared tomorrow (Monday, 19 August) a public holiday so South Africans can ‘braai and celebrate how much we’ve been winning lately ‘.

This comes hot on the heels of Dricus du Plessis’ successful defending of the middleweight title and Team SA’s performance at the Paris Olympics
