Roads agency warns of temporary N2 lane closure

Nseleni bridge road closure from Monday

Motorists who regularly travel on the N2 should once again brace themselves for delays in the vicinity of the Nseleni River bridge from Monday, 5 August to Thursday, 8 August.

According to the SA National Roads Agency (Sanral), the N2 closure is part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance.

The maintenance will include jacking of the bridge deck, including bearing refurbishment work, taking place on the Nseleni River bridge (B2020).

“As part of the deck jacking process, temporary lane closures with stop-and-go control will be implemented,” said Serisha Sukraj, Sanral Eastern Region project manager.

The southbound lane closure will be in effect between 9am and 2pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, while the northbound closure will be in effect on Wednesday.

Drivers are urged to plan their routes and make provision for extra travel time, especially when utilising travel hubs such as airports.

“We further appeal to road users to adhere to the road signs and speed limit when approaching and travelling through the construction site,” concluded Sukraj.
