Thousands to attend the Premier’s Cup in Ulundi

Four KZN PSL clubs will participate in the Premier's Cup at Prince Mangosuthu Regional Stadium in Ulundi

Thousands of soccer lovers are expected to flock to Prince Mangosuthu Regional Stadium in Ulundi this weekend to watch a mouth-watering soccer feast.

Four KZN PSL clubs: AmaZulu FC, Lamontville Golden Arrows, Royal AM, Richards Bay FC and two KZN clubs competing in the first division, Milford FC and Maritzburg United, will all participate in a two-day pre-season Premier’s Cup tournament.

On Saturday, the defending champions, AmaZulu FC will face their KZN rival, Golden Arrows; the second game will be between Royal AM and Milford FC.

The following day, Maritzburg United will battle it out with Richards Bay in the first semi final. The second will be between the two other Saturday winners.

Zululand District Municipality mayor, Cllr Michael Khumalo believes that the tournament will be an opportunity for the district to showcase its rich culture and heritage.

“It is always a pleasure for us to have visitors as we believe that we are among the biggest districts in the province.

As ZDM, we believe in the power of sport, and we promote healthy lifestyles in our communities.

“It has always been our passion to uplift the community by encouraging sport as it is a unifying force that brings people together from diverse backgrounds people and fosters social cohesion.

“The tournament will not only showcase a soccer spectacle but will also bolster the local economy and tourism,” he said.
