Dlangezwa High School has come under the spotlight following a widely circulated image of their learners with shaved heads.
The all-girls boarding school became a trending topic on social media when photographs of the learners seated at an assembly were shared online, sparking much debate about what is believed to be the school’s hair policy.
While there has been backlash with some arguing that the young girls should not be ‘forced’ to sport short hair, many others have defended the school and their efforts towards ensuring uniformity.
What was your reaction when Miss SA Shudu, when she went to the world stage with this hair?
This isn’t a forced hairstyle it’s optional but however, you can only do otherwise in other premises, not Dlangezwa High School.— Nosipho (@_phophoh) July 10, 2024
No one forced parents to register their kids at Dlangezwa High🙏🏾
It’s a boarding school even, meaning it was even more intentional.
Mlokothwa and Bhekuzulu apply the same rules. They are also boarding schools.

It's all about discipline. It used to be like this in the olden days & kids knew their place in society. You may discover that parents are very happy with this arrangement. Dlangezwa High is a boarding school for girls now. It still exceeds with pass rate.

Yes. if you had long unkempt hairs, the teacher will use a scissor to cut your hair into an aeroplane shape and you will become the butt joke. Definitely in the afternoon, you had to cut your hair. I would gladly take my child to this school.

I love schools with rules like this, but this isn't for everyone.
And I hope the parents and kids are both in agreement about this look.
I'd prefer if their moms & female teachers were also bald… coz if they aren't, then it's hypocritical and stupid.

The school's hair policy is utterly ridiculous and draconian! It's unacceptable that they're trying to control students' appearance in such a harsh and outdated way. It's time for a change – students deserve the freedom to express themselves through their hair!

The ZO is yet to receive an official comment from the school.
