Social media posts on mayor’s arrest are ‘lies’

The ANC in the Nokuhamba Nyawo Region in uMkhanyakude District has said widely circulated, defamatory social media posts falsely claiming its regional chair and district municipal mayor Siphile Mdaka was on Sunday night arrested by the Hawks are ‘lies’.

In a statement late Monday, the party in the region labelled these claims as ‘malicious allegations’ levelled against Mdaka and said ‘legal steps will be taken against the identified perpetrators’.
