Richards Bay Regional Court orders car scammer to pay back stolen money

A conman convicted of defrauding victims in a vehicle sales scam in 2019 is paying the price after the Richards Bay Regional Court last week sentenced him to pay back the stolen money.

The court further slapped him with three years of correctional supervision and several hefty conditions.

Rajendran Pillay from Durban, who faced two counts each of fraud and money laundering, is said to have defrauded his victims, a now-deceased Richards Bay pastor and his son, to the tune of over R280 000…
