Joint tourism awareness and clean-up drive in Sodwana Bay

ISimangaliso Wetland Park teamed up with uMhlabuyalingana Municipality, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, WildTrust, communities and community leadership in Sodwana Bay, KwaDapha and Manguzi to promote environmental preservation in the region.

The teams conducted a tourism awareness campaign and used the campaign to hold a clean-up drive and educational session on the impact that littering has on people’s quality of life, as well as on air pollution, the wetlands’ health and the economy in the region.

iSimangaliso sent a huge thank you to the teachers and pupils from Amandla, Nhlange, Langalelihle and Shengeza high schools who, in the middle of their school break, managed to co-ordinate teams of mainly tourism learners to partake in the worthy cause.

“Our local community radio stations, RISE FM 87.9 and Zululand Fm97.0, were on site throughout the two-day event, ensuring a broader community of their listeners stayed informed. We appreciate your passion to educate the community,” said iSimangaliso.
