Zulu king applauds leaders for putting political differences aside to focus on collective duty of taking SA forward

King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has welcomed the announcement on Sunday of the new Cabinet by President Cyril Ramaphosa, and believes it reflects stability, continuity and unity.

He applauds all the leaders who put aside their political differences to focus on their collective duty of taking the country forward through the government of national unity (GNU).

The king is also confident that the outstanding matters relating to Amakhosi and land reform will be high on the agenda of the new Cabinet.

Meanwhile, Cogta MEC Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi has congratulated IFP President Velenkosini Hlabisa for being appointed as minister of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs.

Buthelezi said Hlabisa’s extensive experience at local government level and his unique background of understanding traditional leadership systems bring a wealth of experience and knowledge essential for steering municipalities in the right direction.

“We are also looking forward to engaging directly with the minister on strategic platforms such as MinMec, where all Cogta MECs receive guidance on pertinent issues affecting legislation governing the sphere of local government and the institution of traditional leadership in our country,” said Buthelezi.

Buthelezi said the appointment of Hlabisa signals a new chapter in the national Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, and he is optimistic about the positive impact it will have on the country’s local government and traditional leadership landscape.
