Eskom points to illegal connections core issue

Illegal electrical connections, tampering with meter boxes, and vandalism are responsible for the dramatic increase in transformer failures, especially in residential areas.

This was the sentiment of Eskom spokesperson Joyce Zingoni, who was responding to the plight faced by uVongo reserve residents outside eNseleni.

The residents have been without electricity since 2021 after their transformers blew up, allegedly due to illegal connections.
