Motorists travelling on the N2 could experience delays near the eNseleni River bridge amid planned temporary road closures this week.
This is amid ongoing infrastructure maintenance being conducted by the South African National Road Agency SOC Limited (Sanral).
The southbound lane will be closed between 9am and 2pm on Tuesday, 2 July and Thursday, 4 July, while the northbound lane will be affected on Wednesday, 3 July, also between 9am and 2pm.
The roadworks will include jacking of the bridge deck and bearing refurbishment work.
“As part of the deck jacking process, temporary lane closures with stop-and-go control measures will be implemented,” said Sanral’s Eastern Region project manager Serisha Sukraj.
Sukraj encouraged motorists to plan their routes accordingly and allow for extra travel time, particularly when accessing travel hubs such as airports.
“We further appeal to road users to adhere to the road signs and speed limit when approaching and travelling through the construction site,” he said.
