Community tip-off leads to alcohol bust in eSikhaleni

Heaps of alcohol were confiscated following a police raid on an illegal establishment in Gobandlovu outside eSikhaleni on Tuesday.

According to reports, police received a tip-off from the public about an unlawful tavern operating in the area, and an eSikhawini SAPS task team was formed.

According to King Cetshwayo Cluster spokesperson Captain Siyanda Shangase, on their arrival police learnt that the tavern was operating without a licence.

“On interviewing and checking the area, it was found that it had no official documents, and the liquor was seized for being sold without a licence,” he said.

One person was arrested and charged with illegally dealing in alcohol.

Shangase advised the public to alert police to any criminal activities in the region to ensure they combat crime accordingly.
