Eskom has announced a planned power outage to take place from 5am to 5pm tomorrow (Thursday), with parts of the Zululand region to be affected.
The outage has been scheduled so the power utility can work on major lines.
Confirming the planned outage, industry support and stakeholder management Eskom distribution, Central East Cluster Joyce Zingoni said they will be conducting maintenance work on the lines.
According to Eskom, this widespread power outage will affect such areas as Pongola, Hluhluwe, and Mtuba, with the outage potentially impacting communication connectivity as cellphone tower batteries could run out.
Meanwhile, the City of uMhlathuze said the Eskom outage would not affect Empangeni or Richards Bay suburbs, which are directly supplied by the city.
