Sanral warns of N2 lane closures at eNseleni

Temporary road closures on the N2 to allow for Nseleni River bridge maintenance

Motorists who regularly use the N2 should brace themselves for delays in the vicinity of the Nseleni River bridge from Tuesday, 4 June to Thursday, 6 June.

This is according to the SA National Roads Agency (Sanral), who announced temporary road closures on the N2 to allow for bridge maintenance.

Jacking of the bridge deck, including bearing refurbishment work will take place on the N2 on the Nseleni River bridge (B2020) as part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance.

“As part of the deck jacking process, temporary lane closures with stop-and-go control will be implemented,” said Serisha Sukraj, Sanral Eastern Region project manager.

Lane closures will be in effect between 8am and 2pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The roads agency said motorists should plan their routes accordingly and allow for extra travel time, especially when accessing travel hubs such as airports.

“We further appeal to road users to adhere to the road signs and speed limit when approaching and travelling through the construction site. Sanral apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and asks for your understanding as we work to maintain our infrastructure assets,” said Sukraj.
