Prompt arrival by City of uMhlathuze Fire & Rescue members saw the timely extinguishing of a sugar cane truck fire earlier today (Monday).
En route to Felixton Mill, the fully-laden truck caught fire along the Old Mtubatuba Road.
The driver said he saw lots of smoke from the first trailer, and stopped his rig.
“When I saw huge flames from the trailer I stopped. I jumped off with my fire extinguisher and tried to put out the blaze, but my attempt was not enough and I called for help,” he said.
The uMhlathuze firefighters were quick to arrive and save the truck.
