‘Scorchio’ Sunday in Richards Bay

Sizzle City will live up to its name on Sunday and into the new week as summer’s last gasp continues to inflict scorching hot temperatures in the City of uMhlathuze and beyond.

After Friday’s unseasonably hot 36 degrees C, Richards Bay residents are in for the same on Sunday, 34 on Monday, and an unrelenting 36 on Tuesday.

From Wednesday, it will start cooling down, with 29 degrees and cloudy, and some rain into the latter part of next week.

Empangeni residents are set for 35, 32, and 36 on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday respectively, with the temperatures taking until Thursday to properly cool down (25 and wet).

Elsewhere in the Zululand region, Mtubatuba is in for a manageable 31 from Sunday to Tuesday inclusive; Hluhluwe will record 35, 34, and 35 on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday respectively – after a staggering 38 degrees on Friday.

After a mild start to the weekend, eShowe residents will enjoy 33, 30, and 35 from Sunday to Tuesday, while Gingindlovu will record 35, 32, and a sizzling 36 over the three days.

Remember to stay hydrated, and keep your children and pets hydrated too, with sufficient shade for pets.

Avoid the beach or any outdoor activities between 10am and 3pm as this is the hottest part of the day.

If you start feeling nauseous, dizzy, or just not yourself, seek medical attention as it could be heat exhaustion.
