Police seek missing murder case witness

Witness in ongoing murder case sitting at Pongola Regional Court is sought by police

The police in Mkhuze are seeking assistance with locating a missing murder case witness.

Police spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa said the 67-year-old man went missing in early February.

Mkhuze SAPS has issued an urgent appeal to the community for assistance in locating Bhekifa Alton Nkambule, who was last seen at 7pm on 6 February by his daughter.

Since then, concerns have been raised regarding his whereabouts.

Hlabisa continued that according to reports, Nkambule’s residence was found unlocked, with the key left in the door.

“Inside, his trousers were discovered on the floor, while his gumboots were noted as missing. Notably, all other articles of clothing remained in the house,” said Hlabisa.

“Nkambule, a key witness in an ongoing Mkhuze murder case now at Pongola Regional Court, was last sighted at his work place on 5 December 2023, at Ndumo River Lodge.

“Intensive efforts to locate Nkambule have been ongoing, with community members, led by Induna Myeni, collaborating with Mkhuze police and the Vryheid dog unit in the search operation.

“However, despite these combined efforts, Nkambule’s whereabouts remain unknown,” said Hlabisa.

Hlabisa added that members of the public are urged to contact Detective Sergeant TN Ndlovu with information on Nkambule’s location.

Ndlovu can be contacted on 071 3708781/035 5910001, or members of the public may make anonymous tip-offs through Crime Stop on 086 00 10111.
