It is all systems go for the second voter registration this weekend, with the IEC in King Cetshwayo geared up to open polling stations across the district.

Eligible voters will once again have the opportunity to register, check their voting status and update their details this Saturday and Sunday.

This is ahead of the national and provincial elections set to take place in the coming months.

In preparation, all IEC King Cetshwayo District officers gathered at the Bon Hotel in Empangeni earlier this week to discuss the state of readiness for this weekend.

“We had our final session with the area managers who are running elections on the ground.

“We are ready for the weekend. All our voting stations will be open,” said IEC regional outreach officer Carol Dube.

There is a total of 562 voting stations across the district.

“All voting stations are as they were in November, except for uMhlathuze where one voting station has been added in eMpembeni,” she said.

The first voter registration in November recorded more than 10 000 new registrations across the district.

IEC King Cetshwayo regional manager Stella Dlamini said a total of 26 819 re-registrations within the same voting district were recorded.

A total of 13 989 eligible voters, who were affected by voting boundary changes or moved to a new voting district, were also registered.
